Rue21 Haul!

I went shopping today! =)
I went to Rue21 because I have their "Big save" coupon that they sent me via email.

As you can see, you can still go there from now to August 8, 2010 if you want to use this coupon. I don't know if this one works for everybody but you can try and print it for use. I thought that I was going to buy a lot of dresses but I could only find one that I liked:
$12.99

Then I found awesome, awesome tights in their sock section and ended up buying 7 pairs!
This one is only $4.99!

These are $8.99 but you get 2 pairs for each package. You can even layer them! They look really cute layered.

I call these "sock tights" because they are as thick as a normal pair of socks! Great for winter! Only $5.99 each!

So I needed at least $50 before tax to use the coupon and these only ring up to about $47. I graped these earrings to make my purchase $50...and more =)
I was wearing the missing pair:
These are $6.99. A little bit over what I needed but they are too cute to leave behind!
That is the end of my successful shopping trip! Here are my tights again, this time they are happily hanging together.
The one on the left is not that blue. It's purple...

I went from zero tights to 12 pairs within a week! Yay =)

Repair, Recycle, and Reorganize!

First of, I'm listening to the 500 days of Summer soundtrack and it is amazing! I love those songs and I think you should check them out if you haven't already! Oh, and watch the movie, too. It's pretty great!
*******************************************************************************************************************
So it's summer and I gained a lot of free time on my hand. I decided to clean out my closet so I could repair, recycle, and reorganize my clothes. After an hour or two of throwing things on the floor for donation/trash, I found several things that I could keep if I do a little of repairing. I ended up gaining 2 pairs of denim shorts for the summer and fall, 1 pair of dress short, and 3 more denim mini skirts. I cut my unfit jeans to make my shorts and the same went for the dress short. And of course I cut my longer skirts into the mini skirts. I actually only finished with 2 of the shorts because I am doing everything by hand so it takes a bit longer. Here are my shorts:

Back side of denim short
Front side of denim short
Front side of dress short
Then I also found a beautiful summer skirt but it was way too long for today style and I didn't want to cut it... so I turned it into this:
I think I will probably wear this as a tunic top instead of a dress like the picture because it is quite short as a dress! Then I can pair it with either skinny jean or tights! =)

Speaking of tights, I just bought 5 pairs from Forever21 on monday! I've been wanting tights for awhile now because I bought a pair of ankle booties from Naturalizer and needed tights to pair them with. After I bought those fabulous tights, I didn't know where I should put them in my closet/drawer, so I looked to the internet for help! And I found this efficient way to store them:
Tying them like a scarf on your hangers!
Close-up on the knots
Seeing my tights hung beautifully on the hanger and my closet was not as neat....I went folding-crazy to reorganize my closet and drawers so that my tights can have a "better home" =)
Folded T-shirts
Folded tees and tanks
I even folded my jeans and put them in my drawer!
I did realized that I have to pack all of these clothes in like 3 weeks for back-to-college but I folded them anyway. It's just more organized and pretty to look at! Now I have more room in my closet for my tights to hang =)

Updates on my studying...

Everything is going as planned...Well, almost everything. It's been raining a lot this week in Houston and I was sick so we didn't really make it to the gym so no vocabs study! Very sad, but I hope that this will change next week b/c I'm not sick anymore. It also going to depend on my dad if he feels like going to the gym or not because he's been watching too many Korean dramas lately. I guess I also need a plan B for my vocab studying, may be I could just study one sheet per day like before....I don't know yet. I have to go now b/c I have a psyc test on monday!

The Breakdown until my D-day:

Monday through Thursday: Psych 107 @ cy fair college 8-10 am; read PCAT @ library 10-12 pm; eat and read psych book @ home 12-3 pm ish until dad gets home; exercise and study vocab @ gym with dad and sis 3 ish - 5 ish pm. Then I get to go home to shower and eat dinner! I guess I could study at night too, but I haven't plan anything for that. I'll just do what I feel like!
Friday through Sunday: Study for Psych test since I'm going to have 4 tests on 2 Mondays, 1 Tuesday and the last one is on a Thursday... so I guess I'll study for that one during the week too...probably at night. I might find sometime to read for PCAT in between.
In between all this, I have to go shopping for the next school year, pack and do the practice PCAT before my real test. It will be supper crazy! Great!

Short time to redeem myself

I haven't been following my schedule about reading the PCAT lately. I need to catch up with all the readings and studying so I can be prepared for the test. I am thinking of staying in the library after class for 2 hours so I can focus on just reading the book without much distractions. I also need to keep studying my vocabs because verbal section is going to murder me! Summer is almost over and things are getting a little crazy in my head and I don't like it. I don't need anymore pressure right now in my life. I just want to study for PCAT and take it and be done for now...

"You need to show that you are interested in the field..."

If you want to be a Pharmacy, what's better way to show that you are interested and devoted to it than to become a (look below to the picture...)?
Well may be the opportunity does not come for everybody who wants to be a Pharmacist. That's just life. There are other things though, such as volunteering at a pharmacy or shadowing a pharmacist. But I think that is about it! Plus getting these experiences are soooooo not easy! Trust me, I've tried.
I have no car, so I cannot possibly get myself to any pharmacy to try to work if I went and get my pharm tech license. I spend most of my time in College Station and I have to be in Houston for the summer; therefore, no College Station pharmacy would just want to hire me for just 9 months and no Houston pharmacy would only want me for 3 months. And just like that pharm tech is off my list. So I turned to volunteering and shadowing this summer.
I ended up calling every public/private/hospital pharmacies near my house in Houston for a volunteer/shadowing position, and guess what, they all turned me down. There are actually two places that I could have gone and hopefully they'll put me in the pharmacy department but I'm too young for the adult volunteer program and too late for the young people program. They are actually 2 hospitals that offer youth volunteer programs with applications that were due ages ago. Lucky for me, kinda, that I still have next summer to try and apply for the programs. However, I planed to study abroad with this health program in Costa Rica next summer but I guess I will have to give it up if I don't get to volunteer this coming school year... =(
There is a vet pharmacy in Texas A&M (duh!), so I am hoping that I will get to volunteer there since they don't need me to be a licensed pharm tech to volunteer there. I actually applied for a vet pharm tech job there a year ago, and they said that they would give it to me if I could stay and work for the summer as well. But of course my parents were against it so I said no. They did say that they do offer people to volunteer for them and volunteers receive the same training as if you were one of their workers. I just contacted them not too long ago and they don't seem to know who I am but that's understandable. They did say though, for me to come to their pharmacy and talk about volunteering there with them. So hopefully I will get it!!! OH Please let me volunteer there!!! *fingers crossing*
If I get that then I can go to Costa Rica next summer! Then everything will be wonderful! Well, at least they will be for the time being. My 3rd year in college won't be much fun since I have to take Anatomy and bring my GPA up up up up, way up! Yikes! I'm so looking forward to it...not as much as the PCAT though! Wonderful summer huh?

The Fashion Binder

After I looked through the degree plan and the course descriptions of HCC fashion design program, I got even more excited. So I needed to do something to release all these excitements. Then I decided to put together a fashion binder with all the beautiful fashion clothing from catalogs around my house. Take a look at some of them!

Urban Outfitter

Then I also include some sketches that I have done years and years ago...Here's one:

The Power of Google

One of my favorite fashion movie is, of course, "The Devil Wears Prada". I was watching it the other day and when Nigel said that he used to pretend to go to soccer practice so he could go to sewing classes, I realized that I need to take some sewing classes!!! I took one sewing class in high school but that was a long time ago and I have kind of forgotten how to used the sewing machine =(
So I went on Google to search for sewing classes in Houston, and somehow it gave me a link to a fashion design program in HCC! I had no idea that HCC has a fashion program! I didn't even know that Houston has any fashion design program since the Art Institute Houston only offers a fashion merchandising program. I was thrill to know about this!!! You have no idea how excited I was! I felt like my dream was getting closer and even more possible. I felt so inspired and happy! =)
I also found out that Chloe Dao - project runway season 2 winner - started her career right in HCC fashion design program! No one has ever told me that! I always thought that she went to school in NY. I wish that the media didn't hide this...then I would have known sooner. But I know it now and that's all that matters. Thank you Google!

PCAT

So I'm taking the PCAT in a little more than a month - Aug 21st. I know that this won't be the last time I take it. I'm studying for it using the Kaplan PCAT book right now and hopefully I can get a decent score. I have already planned to take the PCAT class anyway and that's going to cost me about $1100! I think this is a good investment if it helps me get a good enough score to get into pharmacy school. After the class, I'm think of taking the PCAT again next year in June. Hopefully everything goes well.

The Plan

So basically I was thinking that I should complete pharmacy school before I attempt fashion but then that could be a very long time before I could finish. Now I think that I should take fashion classes along with my pharmacy classes so I could finish a little faster. The only problem is that not every state/city has a fashion design program and pharmacy program near each other...
Since I live in TX, I want to go to pharmacy school in TX. I also want to attend the pharmacy school in San Francisco CA because I heard that it's the best pharmacy school in the nation and I have some relatives there as well. Based on all that, there are only 3 places that I can do both at the same time: UH pharmacy school in Houston, TX; UT pharmacy school in Austin, TX; and of course UC San Francisco pharmacy school.
I'm also going to apply to several more pharmacy schools around TX but they don't have any fashion program school near by. I would not know what to do if I have to attend one of them, but I guess it'd be better than if I did not get accepted at all. I guess I might have to consider online classes if that happens...

Complications

Is it that hard to believe that I want to go to Pharmacy school AND Fashion Design school??? Maybe it's not possible. Maybe I should just pick one. But I think I can do both, to a certain extend. I mean I'm good at science and math. And I love sketching outfits and shoppings and shoes! I'm not that smart but I'm a hard worker so I can pretty much do anything I want right? I'm not a quitter once I set a goal for myself: get a PharmD and finish a fashion design program. So I guess this is what I'm going to blog about...whether or not I can achieve this goal. It might take me longer than I expected but who knows. Maybe one day I'll be a successful pharmacist and fashion designer!
